ACLS

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) $130.00

ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology.  Realistic simulations reinforce the following key concepts: proficiency in basic life support care; recognizing and initiating early management of peri-arrest conditions; managing cardiac arrest; identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes; recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations (such as stroke) and providing initial care; ACLS algorithms; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Course Content

The ACLS curriculum includes: respiratory emergencies, 4 types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA, and asystole), 4 types of pre-arrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia, and acute coronary syndromes), and stroke.  A BLS CPR (HCP) card is NOT required for this course, but you must be proficient in Adult BLS for healthcare provider skills (as these skills will be reviewed and evaluated as part of the ACLS Provider Course). Students that are not confident in their BLS CPR Skills should register for a CPR for Healthcare Provider Course prior to attending the ACLS Course.  Initial Provider Course requires approximately 10 hours to complete (one day), including skills practice and skills testing.  Certification is valid for 2 years through the American Heart Association.  There is NO minimum number of students/class.  We will NEVER cancel a class – regardless of registration numbers.

Students who register for the ACLS Course MUST purchase an AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Manual and COMPLETE the online PRETEST.  A copy of the pretest certificate of completion must be turned into the OMS ACLS Instructor on the first day of instruction.  We suggest, but do not require, that you purchase course materials through Channing Bete – this is the best package deal we have been able to find and their shipping is outstanding (see link below)!
